Lasell Landmarks Now Pokémon Locations in New Virtual Reality Game

July 12, 2016

Several Lasell buildings, including Irwin House on the corner of Commonwealth Ave. and Cheswick Rd., have become mapped locations in the newly launched Pokémon Go virtual reality game. The game, launched over the weekend, is available for free as a download on a mobile phone and works using a person's live surroundings to locate and catch Pokémon characters.

News articles have appeared in recent days discussing how map locations were chosen for the new game and several theories have been developed, including user suggestions and nominations.

For now, Lasell's Irwin House, which is the real-life location for the Development and Alumni Relations Office, as well as other locations including the Donahue Center for Creative and Applied Arts and the Yamawaki Art and Cultural Center, will have a few more outside visitors.
